This, is my story

I am a young man who has quite a philosophical and humorous way of thinking. Packed with fantasy that sometimes runs wild. As a result, I can come up with amazing designs & creative ideas. I have a sarcastic approach to most if not all subjects, so take everything I say with a large grain of salt. Design, photography, music production, video (animation), traveling and yes gaming are my main hobbies.

With all the courses in graphic, print and web design I followed I’ve built up a very broad knowledge as a designer. In a not so long ago past, I started with KSO Visual & Architectural arts. It turned out to not stimulate my technical skills enough, so I went back to a more technical study. That’s where my story as a designer starts, with the study of Graphics Media. Learning how to work with Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark Xpress and later Indesign there was a whole new world to discover. That’s what I did, at the age of 16 I had already achieved a professional level in Photoshop and Illustrator.

A game changer, life always consists out of making choices. Late night parties appealed to me more than school at the age of 16 - 18 years. This had consequences for my studies. Parties are not always free so I started with a part-time training in publicity, 4 days working, 1 day going to school. It worked out for a while but the keen sting of love made it all tumbling downhill.
During that time my love for music only grew while going out, so I started making and mixing music myself. Never gone much further as a few living rooms, but I did not have the ambition to expand this either. After I dropped out I started enjoying freedom, even more going out, festivals, discotheques & hanging out with friends. I did some short term work contracts and in the meantime kept unsuccessfully applying for different longterm jobs. You can imagine without a diploma or any experience it’s not easy to get a job.

Time flies by and suddenly we were 20-21 years old, still without a job or a diploma. Time for another game changer, I started with a full-time education in desktop publishing and quit the full-time party time. After one year of intensive training and gaining the skills as an accomplished desktop publisher, I started working as a digital print operator. Here I worked for about 2 years and left on good terms to finish school and get my diploma.
Two years I dedicated myself to full-time adult education, with of course some extra graphics courses. I started following courses in motion graphics, 3D-modeling & Lightroom-photography. These are my latest acquisitions to my already extensive knowledge of design.

At the end of those two years, when I was invited for my graduation ceremony, faith caught up to me. A spontaneous collapse of my left lung, it hurts like hell ofcourse. For about a week I had room service in the local hospital, not the vacation I imagined, but a vacation non the less. I had to recover for a few months at home after my unexpected trip. Such an event makes you think about where you want to go in life, what you've already achieved and how we can accomplish our “new” goals. Less than a year later, I started my own business.

Like you probably know already, that business was Pixel Brand.
Due to financial reasons I was forced to stop my activity as a business owner at the end of 2018.

That’s where my story ends, for now.
